About The Author

Debra Kleve White

Deb White is a native Nebraskan. As a graduate of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UNL), and a former Yell Squad member (1977–1980), her education and college experiences led her toward a path of gratitude and a desire to give back to the University. In doing so, she developed her passion for history and research, concentrating on the UNL athletic department and Spirit Squad, where her love lies.

Her belief in education led her to the University of Texas at Austin, where she works in the College of Education, Institute for Public School Initiatives. She is also a real estate broker in Austin, Texas.

The Spirit of Nebraska is her first book. Deb currently lives in Austin, Texas, but the distance does not deter her from Memorial Stadium in the fall. She may not be wearing the cherished red‑and‑white wool sweater or saddle shoes or waving pompons on the sidelines, but her voice is just as loud as the days she spent on the field with the Yell Squad cheering on her beloved Cornhuskers.
